In February and March 2007 the National Consultations of the European Citizens’ Consultations (ECC) will take place. Citizens from the 27 member countries will have the opportunity to debate the future of the European Union with each other. The outcome of the National Consultations will be discussed and merged into a single document at the Final Consultation in Brussels in May 2007. In June 2007 this final report, including conclusions and recommendations, will be presented to the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Council.
The aim of the ECC is to establish a model for European citizens’ participation, which will be used as an advisory body for European policy makers. For more information on the ECC or the national consultations, see the website of the European Citizens’ Consultations: www.european-citizens-consultations.eu/2.0.html.
