Between December 2007 and October 2008 Asociatia Pro Democratia continues its campaign for promoting good governance at the local level and runs the project “Partnership for Good Governance and Local Government”, aiming to consolidate and promote the principles of good governance and local development through participatory mechanisms.
A continuation of the pilot project “Partnership for Good Governance”, the present project will draw upon and improve the methodology of the past project in order to promote good governance in Romanian communities.
The principles of good governance are the fundamental premises for sustainable development and local development is affected where they are not applied. Therefore, the project “Partnership for Good Governance and Local Development” proposes a participatory approach to promote good governance so as to strengthen the capacity of community members (journalists, NGO representatives, teachers and local public administration representatives) to use mechanisms specifically for good governance in order to promote projects for local development.
The www.bunaguvernare.eu website will provide local public administration representatives, NGO activists and citizens the possibility to enter into dialogue about good governance issues.
This project is implemented by Asociatia Pro Democratia in partnership with the Resource Center for Public Participation and the Media Monitoring Agency and benefits from the financial support of the European Union through the 2005 Phare - Strengthening Democracy in Romania Program.
