‘A small country with 2 million very pro-active inhabitants.’ That was the first impression Politeia partners got, when they paid a study visit to Slovenia in November 2006.
This study week completed a series of seminars under the title “European Exchange of Good Practises in the Field of Participation and Citizenship of Underrepresented Groups” financed by the Dutch Ministry of Interior.

The third study week of the Politeia programme 'European Exchange of Good Practices in the Field of Participation and Citizenship of Underrepresented Groups' was organised by Asociatia Pro Democratia (APD) and took place in Romania from 18 until 22 September 2006. Just as during the previous two exchanges, organised in the Netherlands and Ireland, the focus of this exchange was on the political situation of the host country, Romania in this case, and the different projects organised by APD.

Within the framework of the renewed Politeia Network for Citizenship and Democracy in Europe, the IPP organises an exchange programme with partner organisations from Ireland, Romania and Slovenia. During four study visits and a concluding seminar, representatives of the participating organisations exchange knowledge and methods for involving underrepresented groups in politics and society.
Between January 2006 and December 2006, the Dutch Centre for Political Participation (Instituut voor Publiek en Politiek) is co-ordinating the project ‘European Exchange of Good Practices in the Field of Participation and Citizenship of Underrepresented Groups’. The main objective of this program is the exchange of good practices between European organisations dealing with the promotion of active citizenship and democracy. In particular, the exchange project concentrates on ascertaining new methods of bringing underrepresented groups closer to politics. Thus, the project focuses on questions such as: ‘What do participating organizations do to promote involvement of citizens in decision-making processes? What activities do they undertake in voter education and information, in political education of youth and immigrants and in promoting political participation of women?’ A second topic in the project is what these organizations do to draw the attention of politicians towards underrepresented groups and minority issues.
