Between January and February 2008, Asociaţia Pro Democraţia conducted national level research within the One Year in the European Union - The Other Romania project, supported by the European Commission. In 12 counties 538 interviews with persons employed in the three sectors most affected by the EU integration in the first year (local public servants, small and medium enterprises and farmers) have been conducted. The project aimed at comparatively assessing the extent to which different groups were affected by EU integration, their perception on the main threats and opportunities related to this process, and their main expectations from EU and Romanian institutions.
In 2006 GONG implemented the project "Think Globally, Act Locally!" in the town of Rijeka. The goal of the project is to give young people the opportunity to develop skills necessary for active participation in the decision making process at local level. It also aims at changing the negative attitude that young people have about politics in general, providing them the opportunity to take responsibility for implementation and financing of agreed measures at the local level. The central event of the project is the Action Day which takes place in the Town facilities.
In 2007, GONG started implementing the project European Class – a series of workshops for high school students in Croatia. In workshops students are introduced to relevant issues of Croatian membership in the European Union in an interesting and interactive way, stressing topics concerning youth, their mobility, education and future employment. The main goal of the project is to raise awareness on European integration and to decrease the level of misunderstanding and prejudice towards the EU and Croatian membership of the EU. The project was officially recommended by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI).
